Oggs Official Re-opening

Wednesday, 25th September 2013

Oggs Opening

Thursday 29th August saw the official re-opening of our newly refurbished Ogg & Company shop on Newmarket Street in Ayr. The cutting of the ribbon was performed by Ayr Provost Helen Moonie who joined about 40 of our staff, customers and invited guests to help us celebrate this milestone.

The new look Oggs has kept a very traditional feel. “It was so important to us that Ogg & Company, which has been in Ayr for over 150 years, stayed true to its tradition,” explains owner, David Stribling. “Although it’s been redesigned and redecorated, it still has the look and feel of a classic Victorian business, with many of the original architectural features being retained.”

The focus at Ogg & Company is very much on families and making life easier for them. “Every change we’ve made has been done with our customers in mind, to make our service to them better,” continues David. “For example, we now have a private consulting room where people can discuss health issues with our Pharmacist Jane Rorison, often saving them a trip to their GP. We’ve also introduced new healthcare services, including prescription collection and delivery, a stop smoking programme and weight loss management, with more to follow in the coming months.”

David and his wife Fiona are also expanding the retail side of the business. “Over the years Oggs established itself as a supplier of traditional fragrances and luxury toiletries, and we’re continuing to develop that,” explains Fiona. “Customers will still have the choice of all the classic brands which they’ve grown to love, such as Crabtree & Evelyn, Bronnley and Roger & Gallet. However we’ve also introduced some contemporary ones, like Arran Aromatics and Burt’s Bees, which offer beautiful ranges of nature-inspired products. These products are a bit more unusual than those found in high street pharmacies. They make ideal gifts for someone special, but also allow people to turn their own daily routine into a luxurious experience.”

Please pop in and see us soon!!!

Scottish Pharmacist Awards

Ayrshire’s Lime Tree Healthcare celebrated success at this year’s Scottish Pharmacist Awards, making it to the final of four different categories before scooping the trophy for one of the most hotly contested awards of the night.

The family business, owned by Ayr couple David and Fiona Stribling, was shortlisted for ‘Business Initiative of the Year’ and ‘Innovation & Change in Pharmacy Practice’, while Pharmacy Trainee Sam Falconer was a finalist in the ‘Pre-Registration Trainee of the Year’ category. But the biggest cheer of the night went to Lime Tree’s Susan Errington who picked up the much coveted trophy for ‘Pharmacy Manager of the Year’ at the prestigious industry event in Edinburgh.

Lime Tree Healthcare owns three pharmacies in Ayrshire, including Alloway Pharmacy and Ogg & Company in Ayr’s Newmarket Street which the company bought in February. Lime Tree’s success, according to owner David Stribling, is a result of their ongoing commitment to patient care.

Congratulating his staff on their recent awards, David said: “When Fiona and I first established Lime Tree Healthcare our aim was to create family friendly, customer focussed, local pharmacies. We are achieving that goal through the support, loyalty and effort of all our staff, who continually put the customers first and go out their way to help people. To reach the final in no less than four categories at these national awards was just incredible. I am thrilled for both Susan and Sam on their individual industry recognition, but also thank each member of staff for the contribution they made to Lime Tree’s overall awards success.”

Olympic Flame Visits Alloway

Thursday, 21st June 2012

On Friday June 8th the Olympic Flame briefly visited Alloway Pharmacy. Many hundreds of people including local school children turned out to see the flame go past Burns Cottage and of course, Alloway Pharmacy. It was a great experience and really helped us all get in the mood to support Team GB in London at the end of July.

Marathon Success

Thursday, 21st June 2012

On May 27th after a lot of training and a great day I completed the Edinburgh Marathon in a time of 3hrs 59mins and 8secs. Although hoping for a slightly better time, it was a hot day and I was pleased to squeeze in under the 4hr mark. After starting well and going through halfway in 1hr 51 mins the wheels fell of a bit from mile 18 onwards. There was loads of support out on the course though including Fiona and our children, Sam, Ryan & Emily (pictured). Many residents resorted to turning on their hosepipes and spinklers to keep runners cool and the whole atmosphere was really superb.

I really must thank all of our customers, staff and friends who sponsored me allowing me to raise over £1,200 for The Ayrshire Hospice. Your support was very gratefully received. A couple of weeks on now the legs have recovered and I'm even thinking of signing up for another marathon later in the year. Thank you all so much!!

Lime Tree's continued support for club

Monday, 18th April 2011

With this year’s football season now well into the second half, Lime Tree Healthcare has pledged to continue its support next year for Prestwick Community Football Club’s Under 8s. Lime Tree’s Alloway pharmacy signed up in 2009 to sponsor strips for the Prestwick Oval based team, which includes young footballers from several South Ayrshire schools.

And as well as being team sponsor, Lime Tree Healthcare owner and father of three, David Stribling, recently took on the role of Coach too! David said: “Contributing to the local community is hugely important to us and becoming actively involved with the Club has been great fun. It’s a superb Club with really enthusiastic young players who are doing well in the West of Scotland Youth Football League and we’re delighted to lend our support to them.”

Townhead Pharmacy refit well on course

Monday, 18th April 2011

Work to improve facilities at Lime Tree Healthcare’s Townhead pharmacy is now well underway, with completion on course for early May. Our new look shop will allow us to provide an even better service to our customers. Features include a new consulting room and a larger dispensing area which will help improve the efficiency of our service.

Our modernised premises will also offer customers more privacy, while complying further with disability access regulations. And rebranding as Lime Tree Healthcare, the brighter, more attractive shop will offer customers and staff an all round more attractive environment.

New Branding Unveiled

Monday, 18th April 2011

Lime Tree Healthcare has unveiled the new branding for our group of family-run pharmacies. Individual logos for both Alloway and Townhead pharmacies have been replaced, with both our shops now coming under the new Lime Tree Healthcare brand. Based on a lime tree, the new brand represents health and vitality. And with a warm and friendly feel, the new professional identity clearly reflects our company values and customer focussed approach.

Ordering repeat prescriptions is now even easier for Lime Tree Healthcare customers, thanks to our new online ordering service.  We’ve teamed up with, a recognised service approved by the National Pharmacy Association, to make repeat ordering from either Alloway or Townhead even more convenient for you. And when you order online, we can check right away to see if we’ve got what you need in stock, avoiding any delays in getting you what you need.

To get started with this new service, simply click on the (link) above. The first time you’ll need to take a couple of minutes to enter a few registration details. After that, it’s just a matter of seconds to order what you need. You can order online any time and within approximately three days, we’ll have your prescription ready for collection or delivery.

(Please note our telephone service for repeat prescriptions is still available also).
